Quick Interview with Andrey Kondratyuk

Who are you and what do you do?

I am the Co-founder of IntellectoKids, a parent company consisting of three apps designed to make parent’s lives easier by providing various digital products to support their daily activities. Super Parents provides parents from all walks of life with a range of 15 minute audio tutorials that give advice about common issues that one might encounter while raising their children. Learning Games helps children discover new things and encourages them to start learning letters, numbers, colours and shapes. Bedtime Stories provides audio fairy tales that teach ethics and morals with stories around friendship, caring for others and doing the right thing.
“Creating and executing your product are key.” Andrey Kondratyuk

What’s the story behind your success?

When my daughter was three years old, my wife and I noticed there was a limited number of digital products available in the market that were safe for children, good quality in terms of content and graphics, and could be used to educate and entertain her. Seeing this gap in the market for parents (including myself), I realised that this could be a good business opportunity and took the plunge. We launched our first app in 2017 and have never looked back. Our three apps now cater to thousands of parents and children around the globe and, in fact, we’re testing to soon launch our fourth app in the market very soon.

What’s been your life’s biggest lesson so far?

Whatever the initial idea of your product may be, you’ll definitely make some changes along the way and also don’t be afraid of learning. Initially we launched ‘Safari School’ but realised, soon enough, children preferred having multiple games rather than apps to keep themselves entertained. Also, there were a plethora of topics that they could gain knowledge about including space, arts, musical instruments, etc. We then changed our app’s positioning to reflect this, giving both children and parents additional quality content.

What would you call yourself?

  • The people you work with who will be creating and executing your product are key, so invest in them and ensure you’re on the same page.
  • While a great idea is important, what’s more critical is for there to be a market and demand for it. An aspiring entrepreneur should never brush aside market size.
  • Don’t do things half-heartedly –  you have to be committed to your business. There are always going to be speed bumps along the way, but if you dedicate time, money and resources wisely you can tackle anything.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

The more exposure you have, the more risks you’re prone to encountering. The main thing is to keep trying and to not be afraid to fail.

What three tools makes your business run better?

Amplitude, Slack and Zoom.
